The “Ustroń” Health Resort is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, located in the heart of the Silesian Beskids.

It includes 6 leisure and spa facilities, including hotels, healthcare buildings, and a cardiology hospital, which can accommodate 1600 patients. The complex was distinguished in the prestigious publication “20th-Century World Architecture: The Phaidon Atlas” as a remarkable symbol of modernist architecture embedded in mountainous terrain.

Scope of services

As part of global cooperation with the Investor, our company is managing the modernisation and extension programme for the complex. The scope of our responsibilities includes: supervision over the development of design documentation along with value engineering service; management of particular projects; cost management; site supervision; organisation of tender procedures; and ongoing technical advisory.

Challenges

  • A complex and multi-stage process of obtaining administrative decisions that were required to start the construction works;
  • Conducting construction works in Health Resort Protection Zone “A” and minimizing their impact on the environment and the comfort of patients;
  • Carrying out works on premises without permanently excluding them from use;
  • Complex soil conditions, construction on a slope, landslide areas;
  • Ensuring compliance with the original appearance of the health resort buildings.
