Renovation of famous “Narcyz” pyramid starts

The next stage of modernization and expansion of the Uzdrowisko Ustroń health complex, belonging to the American Heart of Poland Group, has begun. The “Narcyz” sanatorium building will undergo a thorough renovation to become one of the most modern facilities of this type in Poland. We are pleased to announce that we have been providing construction project management, cost management and site supervision services for the renovation of the famous pyramid. The project is supervised by Projekt Plus Architekci, while the general contractor is SPEC BAU.
Perfect location guarantees effectiveness of reconvalescence
“Narcyz” is one of the most outstanding sanatorium facilities located in the Ustroń Zawodzie district. It was designed in the shape of a pyramid by architects Henryk Buszka, Aleksander Franta and Tadeusz Szewczyk in the early 1960s. The picturesquely located “Narcyz” sanatorium building has almost 200 beds and offers meals that take into account dietary requirements. Its short distance from the largest treatment base in Poland makes it an excellent place to rest and regain strength after illness, and also facilitates effective rehabilitation.
Shortly after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the Uzdrowisko Ustroń Resort of the American Heart of Poland Group dedicated the entire “Narcyz” building to help refugees, mainly children from orphanages and mothers with small children. It provided not only accommodation, but also full board and medical and psychological assistance.
Modernization in line with spirit of tradition and full respect for environment
An important part of the project will be the renovation of the façade, which will be carried out with particular attention to the historical merits of the “pyramid”. Construction works will also include a thorough modernization of the building’s interior, which is aimed at increasing the comfort of guests. In addition to changing the interior furnishings and finishing, the plan includes a complete replacement of sanitary and electrical installations as well as the reconstruction of ventilation systems, expanded to include a cooling function, which will significantly improve the quality of guests’ stay, especially in the summer.
“The modernization works are intended to make “Narcyz” not only one of the most comfortable sanatorium facilities in Poland, but also to offer energy-saving solutions and devices. Moreover, as part of the renovation of the façade, it is planned to replace the old window joinery with a more modern version compatible with the current technical standards. The above-mentioned actions will significantly reduce energy consumption and, consequently, reduce the carbon footprint,” explains Grzegorz Prusiewicz, member of the management board of our company, which manages the entire expansion and modernization programme of Uzdrowisko Ustroń.
Modernization of Uzdrowisko Ustroń
In parallel to the construction works, design work is underway regarding the planned modernization of other sanatorium facilities and the expansion of the entire resort with new facilities. The modernization of the Health Resort Institute is planned for the near future and its aim is to modernize and increase the capabilities of the treatment base. The comfort of guests and patients, and therefore continuous improvement of quality, is currently the priority of Uzdrowisko Ustroń. All this is done with respect for nature, which is the main value of the area, and also in accordance with the original concept that the architects of the entire complex had in mind.
By the end of the decade, in the Ustroń Zawodzie district, three new buildings in the style of the well-known “pyramids” and two buildings being their inverted counterparts – the so-called “wedges” – should be completed.
